Connie Ornelas, DPM is a podiatric physician and is board certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Over the span of Dr. Ornelas’ 14-year career, she has performed over 1,000 podiatric surgeries. Growing up as a competitive gymnast in Northern California, she has an affinity for Sports Medicine. She also specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic limb salvage, and wound care.
Dr. Ornelas graduated from the University of California Los Angeles before attending Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, where she received a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2008. She completed her post graduate training with a three-year surgical residency at Lakewood Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Ornelas is certified in Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine and worked at the Los Alamitos Wound Healing and Hyperbarics Center. She is an Attending for the Lakewood Regional Medical Center Residency program, where she instructs medical students and residents. Dr. Ornelas is affiliated with Los Alamitos Medical Center and Lakewood Regional Medical Center.
As a podiatric expert, Dr. Ornelas has appeared on The Doctors Show (CBS Studios) and is often a lecturer/guest speaker at Cerritos Senior Center, Mended Hearts, and Los Alamitos Senior Advantage.
Dr. Ornelas is a Fellow at American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and serves as Vice President of the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Association. She is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the California Podiatric Medical Association.
Community Service is very important to Dr. Ornelas and, as such, she has been active in the Special Olympics since 2009. She also participates in the Diabetes Expo Long Beach as well as various Community Health Fairs.
